Driving Through Puddles And Waterlogged Roads

Driving your car through stagnant water or puddles can damage your car. Here's what you must do to negotiate.

Speeding your car through a puddle of water might bring back memories from your bicycle days, but it comes with the risk of causing serious damage to your car. Collected water on the road needs to be treated with respect, especially keeping in mind that we don’t know what’s lurking underneath it. For all you know, there could be a deep pothole or even an open manhole. Driving through such surprises can cause to you lose control of your car.

It is best to stay in the centre lane, as water tends to pool on the outer lanes.

If the water is deep enough to submerge your exhaust pipe, consider taking an alternative route. Attempting to wade through deep water can ruin the electrical systems. Driving through waterlogged roads gets trickier at night as gauging the depth of the water becomes difficult. On such occasions, check the level of the water against dividers, trees, pavements before going ahead.

In the event you do have to drive through flooded streets, what should you do? To begin with do not panic. Keep your foot on the gas, and continue driving slowly, maintaining a constant speed. As you drive through the water, keep the throttle pedal pressed at all times, even when you need to shift gears or regulate your speed with the clutch, otherwise the water in your exhaust could stall the engine. In case you car stalls in deep water, do not open prop the bonnet to avoid further entrance of water. In the interim, call for someone who can have another vehicle tow you out with a rope or a cable winch.

Most modern cars’ air intakes are low down at the front, and speeding your car over puddles can cause hydrostatic lock as water enters the engine causing it to seize. As much fun as it seems, resist the temptation to ploughing through flooded roads.

Although these tips should help you tackle waterlogged roads, it is advisable to take a detour to avert being stalled or stuck.

Things to know while buying a Used or New Car!

Is your dream car really suitable to fulfill all your needs? It may sound like a simple question to you but it's the truth that you can be easily distracted by impractical cars when you're looking for your dream car.So before buying a Hyundai Car you should put down the points i.e give priority to the features you needed the most in your new car.

There’s no point of buying a sports car if you want to transport a family of four. Similarly, there is no reason to buy a big awkward off-roader if you stay in a city. Why consider mileage as top priority if you travel less than 10km a day? So Petrol or diesel, it doesn’t really matter unless your daily travel is more than 10 kms.

It is impossible to beat the smell of a new car, the pleasure you get to drive away in a car that is yours as you’re the first owner. Used Cars comes with a price, namely or depreciation. You can virtually write off 20 per cent of the purchase price the moment you drive away from the dealer because it is then a used car. It is the fact that cars depreciate faster in the first two or three years of their life and the new car buyer has to bear that for the pleasure of being the first owner. By buying used it is possible to avoid the heaviest depreciation.

Cars will still depreciate in the years that follow, but at a slower rate. New car buyers can choose the engine, transmission, the colour of the paint and the interior trim, and accessories, but used car buyers have to take what's available as there is lack of choice and you won’t get your dream car easily. Reassuring backup of a new car is there with New car buyers as a warranty.

Anyone buying from a used car dealer will also have a warranty, but it won't be for the same duration as a new car warranty. Private buyers don't have a warranty at all.

Also instead of buying a New Hyundai i20 or i20 active you can go for secondhand Hyundai Creta which is much bigger and comfortable than a hatchback. We cannot ignore the fact that there is always a risk in buying a secondhand Car. Advantages and Disadvantages are there is both Petrol and Diesel Car. However, the difference between them is very less so it doesn’t matter.

• Diesel engines are comparatively more slow and noisy but the latest diesel engines are as pure as petrol ones. Now diesel engines are fitted in a number of high-performance models also. Diesel engines emit less carbon dioxide, so they are better in terms of pollution.


• On the other hand, Petrol engines are proved to be more cleaner and economical, too. The technology now features Direct-injection in a number of models. Performance-minded drivers still tend to opt for petrol cars, though many diesels can accelerate faster than petrol equivalents at speeds from 50-80kph which is a more beneficial in everyday driving than a quick 0-60 standing-start time. The prices of new diesel cars are usually slightly higher than for similarly-specified petrol models, but they have better resale value

The fact is diesel is only three quarters the price of petrol and is therefore easy on the pocket. Diesels also travel further on a litre of fuel compared to their petrol counterparts. However, bear in mind that a diesel car makes financial sense only if your annual mileage is more than 13,000-15,000km. If your annual mileage will be less than that, opt blindly for a petrol. If your usage is less than 12,000km annually never think diesel.

Hyundai Motor India Domestic Sales Grew by 12.9%

Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country’s leading car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter registered the domestic sales of 41,201 units and exports of 14,606 with cumulative sales of 55,807 units for the month of July 2016.

Commenting on the July sales Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “Hyundai continues to sustain strong growth trajectory, volume of 41,201 units with growth of 12.9% on the strength of strong pull performance of Grand i10, Elite i20 & Creta in a market showing improved customer sentiments led by good monsoons, low inflation, reduced interest rates and dropping fuel prices.”
