Hyundai Tucson to launch in India likely by September

http://www.shreenathhyundai.com/

A new image of what is believed to be Hyundai's Tucson SUV has started doing the rounds on the internet, hinting that the model may arrive in India soon. The South Korean auto-maker, which showcased the new Tucson at the Auto Expo 2016 in February, is expected to launch the SUV in the Indian market by September this year.

Caught on camera by Motoroids, which probably gives a glimpse of the car for the first time, the latest image shows the prototype in its fully camouflaged form, carefully hiding every detail of the model. The Tucson will be positioned between the Creta and the Santa Fe SUVs in Hyundai's portfolio. The SUV is expected to be brought to the country initially as completely built units (CBU).

Expected to be priced in the bracket of Rs. 16 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh, the Tucson is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine in India. The engine will be tuned to churn out 180bhp of power and 400Nm of torque mated to six-speed manual transmission. According to reports, people can also look forward to a petrol engine being offered in the model. The all-wheel drive (AWD) version of Tucson is also expected to be introduced in the Indian market.

As for features, the new Tucson is expected to come packed with a full-length panoramic sunroof, a five-inch LCD display with rearview camera and touchscreen function, an audio system with eight speakers with AM/FM/SiriusXM connectivity, and twin-projector headlights with integrated LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).

Hyundai plans to bring back Santro

http://www.shreenathhyundai.com/

Hyundai Motor India Limited’s Managing Director Mr. Young Key Koo, at the commencement of the 20th Foundation Day celebrations of Hyundai Motor India announced Hyundai’s vision of attaining ‘market leadership position in the Indian automobile market’, ‘becoming the most beloved and trusted auto brand in India’, ‘a modern premium brand with products and services beyond customer expectations’ and ‘a great place to work’.

Exactly 20 years ago, HMIL, India’s second largest car manufacturer and largest exporter laid the foundation for its factory in India on 6th May, 1996 and began operations on September 1998 by commissioning its first integrated car manufacturing plant outside Korea in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. They became a trend setter from day 1 by introducing contemporary products based on advanced technology. The Iconic tallboy ‘Santro’ was the first car in India to be based on the MPFI engine as against the prevailing carburetor based engines favoured by competition.

Mr. YK Koo spoke about Hyundai’s vision to reach more customers by launching 2 new products every year, expanding its footprint across the country to offer the customer, products and services beyond their expectation. More GDSI & digital showrooms, automated workshops, introduction of ‘Experience Hyundai’ programmes for brand & product, sponsorships etc. are in the offing.
H

yundai Motor India is all set to bring back the car that earned it a presence in the Indian market - the original tallboy Santro. According to vendor sources, the new Santro is currently under development in South Korea and will come to India in around two years. Sources say Hyundai management has decided to bring the iconic car back because of the positive customer interest in the brand two years after it was phased out. Hyundai dealers say customers still ask about the Santro and wonder why the car was phased out, leaving the tallboy space wide open for rivals.

Sources however say that the top management appreciates that the Santro continues to be a powerful brand in India despite the new models in the entry level category introduced by Hyundai and its rivals since the tallboy's phase out. The current new Santro project is under tight wraps as vendor sources said it was "too early to talk about".

The Santro was launched in India in September 1998. With its tallboy design and MPFI engine - a departure from the carburetor engines that were in vogue 20 years ago - it became a game-changer model for Hyundai in India. It had a glorious run selling 13.6 lakh units in the domestic market and another 5.35 lakh units in exports till it was phased out. The Santro clocked nearly 1.9 million units of lifetime sales in the domestic and export markets put together in its 16 year-run in India. Even when it was phased out end-2014, the Santro was selling around 2400-2500 units a month and clocked 14595 units in the first six months of 2014-15.

The Santro was the Indian avatar of what was globally known as the Hyundai Atos Prime. The Korean company replaced Atos Prime with the i10 in most markets across the world in 2007. In October 2011, the Hyundai Eon was launched in India in a similar price segment as the Santro Xing and in 2014 the Grand i10 was launched. But the tallboy continued to sell alongside these newer avatars.

The entry-level tallboy model is once again creating a buzz with unconfirmed media reports claiming Maruti is reportedly mulling a tallboy avatar for its Alto. Hyundai for its part is getting aggressive with its product pipeline. It plans to launch the Tucson this year followed by a soft hybrid - which is less expensive than full hybrids - in 2017. In 2018 it will bring its AMT engine which will gradually be introduced in the entire model range. And in 2019 it plans to bring a sub-4 metre, 1000 cc compact SUV.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. YK Koo, MD and CEO, HMIL said “This is a very important milestone for us. 20 years ago we only had a dream of transforming the Indian auto industry by introducing contemporary products and today that dream has come true. We were also the first proponents of “Make in India” and showcasing India’s manufacturing prowess to the world. That vision is validated with HMIL and India remaining at the heart of HMC’s global operations and a key hub for exports. We have received tremendous support from the Indian customer and I am confident that this support and co-operation continues, going forward”

The top management of HMIL, vendors & dealer partners, received a baton-scroll from Mr. YK Koo, as a token of their pledge & strong commitment to achieve Hyundai Motor India’s vision of becoming ‘a market leader’, ‘the most beloved & trusted car brand through modern premium brand experience’ and ‘a great place to work’.

Car Care Tips For Hot Summer

http://www.shreenathhyundai.com/

Excessive heat could be tough for your car and cause serious breakdowns. You can avoid such issues and enjoy a cool and comfortable ride during summers by following these simple car care tips.

SUMMER CAR CARE TIPS

Check Tires: Summer can wear or damage tires. Rising temperature affects tire pressure. Over or under inflated tires might blowout or cause accidents. Experts suggest checking the tire pressure on regular basis, i.e. once a week, and keep them inflated at recommended level. Vehicle’s fuel efficiency increases up to 3%, if the tires are properly inflated. Change winter tires with summer or all-season tires, as winter tires get heavier during summer, and wear faster, too. Moreover, it reduces car’s fuel efficiency. Check tires for any damage or wear and alignment imbalance, before hitting the road.

Engine Care: Vehicles, usually, get overheated in summer. That said, heavy driving and long trips can also overheat the engine. Engine systems need thorough check during hot summer days and long trips. Check for the engine lubricant. If the oil gets dark in color or there is lots of grime and dirt, change the oil and replace the oil filter. Many technicians recommend changing engine oil every 3, 000 miles, while some manufacturer’s manual extend it up to 7, 500 miles. Check engine coolant levels and cooling fan, too.

Fill it up: Fill power steering, differential, coolant, transmission and brake fluids to recommended levels. In summer, use a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water for coolant. Check for fluid leakage. Take your car to a service station for check-up and repair.

Hoses and Belts: Make sure that hoses remain firm, especially around clamps, connected to the engine or radiator. Check hoses and belts for cracks and wear. Due to excessive wear, the belt might get smooth. That said, the belt failure risk increases after 36, 000 miles. So, if your car has crossed the recommended limit, consult to a mechanic or your owner’s manual.

Brakes: If the brakes pedal feel spongy, resistant or hard, or making constant and loud sound, it’s time to change it. You can avoid costly future repairs by repairing or changing brakes on time.

Air Conditioner: The car’s AC units require service every three years. Most air conditioning units damage or malfunction due to low level of refrigerant. Consult a professional, if your AC unit has any leakage problem or low refrigerant levels.

Air Filter: A filthy air filter affects engine’s efficiency and mileage. If it gets dirty or blocked, change it immediately. Experts advice replacing it every 12,000 miles, but if you usually drive in dirt or dessert area change them more often.

Hyundai Car Servicing in Mumbai, Thane

Windshield Wipers: Replace the old, cracked or leave streaks wipers for better visibility during summer storms or dusty weather.

Cleaning: Keep your car clean from inside and out and also lighten up load of unnecessary items. This will give a more relaxed and comfortable ride during hot summer days. Regular maintenance and tune-up ensure hassle-free and safe journey.

Park it Right: Always park your car in shady area or wrap in its cover. The sun can damage vehicle’s bodywork, fade its paint and heat the cabin. Don’t let unnecessary items around in the vehicle, as they may retain heat and increase load on AC unit. Keep a small napkin or towel over the steering so that it will remain cool and don’t get you sweat in fist.

Car Buying Guide: How to finalise your car budget

http://www.shreenathhyundai.com/index.html

Buying a new car is pretty easy these days, but that’s almost the final step in the process. What precede it are things like deciding the variant, the colour, the engine, the trim level, and more importantly, your budget. With the latest Car Buying guide, we try to make deciding your budget easier, by breaking the process in simple steps.

In case you experience any of the symptoms while driving, it’s important that you park the car immediately along the closest kerb and do an inspection. This would prevent damage to the tyre and wheel. A visual check and comparison would surely reveal if a tyre is flat or not.

 BUYING PRICE

Most other expenses (be it the premium one might pay buying a diesel engined vehicle or the increased costs incurred running the car on petrol) are infinitesimal in comparison to the buying costs of a car. Along with finalising the kind (Body Style) of the vehicle, your budget needs to be determined first.

With that decided, it becomes easier to narrow down the cars that fit your criterion (budget here). It’s always nice to keep the budget a little flexible: by doing so not only could you get a wider gamut of cars to choose from, but also ensure that you get more bang for your buck.

FUEL TYPE – Petrol, Diesel, Electric, CNG or LPG

The decreasing difference in fuel prices has certainly made the case for buying diesel powered vehicles somewhat weaker. While diesel engines offer considerably larger amounts of torque, better fuel economy, and better range than their petrol counterparts, it all boils down to your use which fuel type suits your pocket.

What needs to be kept in mind is that the buying cost for diesel vehicles is generally higher than the petrol variants. Alternatives like LPG and CNG are also available on select models, again at a slight premium over the petrol versions they are based on, but fuel availability is still a concern.

But if your commutes are limited to within city limits, then you could also consider getting yourself an electric powered vehicle. Their infiltration in the market might not be as rapid and successful as that of other fuels, but the ridiculously low costs of running make electric vehicles worth a try. What mars them (electric cars in general) is the limited choice, low range, high buying price, and lack of an infrastructure that favours public and emergency charging.

 BRAND VALUE

As of today, Gold is listed at INR 2661 per gram, while Silver costs INR 36 per gram. Both of these are noble metals, and as can be seen gold has a much higher value than silver. Same is the case with brand value.

And it’s not a superficial thing, either. Companies work hard, offer great products and services to their customers, and all that combined eventually determines how much the customer value the brand. Higher the better, of course.

Products with higher brand value command a higher price, and can also fetch a better resale value, too.
How to Finalise your Car Budget

RESALE VALUE/ DEPRICIATION

Talking of which, if you have a habit of switching cars every few years, then keeping the resale value in mind is vital, too. This is a very market dependent thing, and more often than not, brand value determines the ability of a vehicle to retain its value. With that said, there are certain cars which fared nice in road tests, reviews, and as products on the whole, failed to offer great resale value.

SERVICING, WARRANTY AND SPARE PARTS PRICES
Running and maintaining a car is part and parcel of its ownership. Servicing costs, number of free services, and availability of service centres all rank high in priority. Higher the servicing costs, the more expensive maintaining the vehicle is going to be. Like servicing, costs and availability of spare parts is another concern. Some premium carmakers have spare part prices set notoriously high, which often ends up in affecting the service/repair bills.

With the option of choosing extended warranty (offered by most manufacturers), the servicing and spare part costs can be reduced to an extent, especially in case of a faulty part.

These may not upset your daily expense, but remember getting your vehicle serviced regularly is essential. And the increased price (spares/service etc.) can add to the monthly/quarterly expense.
