Things to know while buying a Used or New Car!

Is your dream car really suitable to fulfill all your needs? It may sound like a simple question to you but it's the truth that you can be easily distracted by impractical cars when you're looking for your dream car.So before buying a Hyundai Car you should put down the points i.e give priority to the features you needed the most in your new car.
Prioritizing your Needs
  • Is it comfort or speed?
  • Is it falling for looks or thinking practically?
  • Petrol or Diesel?
  • Off - roader or simply a city Car?
  • New Car or Used Car?
Questions mentioned above are very important to consider as these determine which Car is perfect for you to buy.
There’s no point of buying a sports car if you want to transport a family of four. Similarly, there is no reason to buy a big awkward off-roader if you stay in a city. Why consider mileage as top priority if you travel less than 10km a day? So Petrol or diesel, it doesn’t really matter unless your daily travel is more than 10 kms.
It is impossible to beat the smell of a new car, the pleasure you get to drive away in a car that is yours as you’re the first owner. Used Cars comes with a price, namely or depreciation. You can virtually write off 20 per cent of the purchase price the moment you drive away from the dealer because it is then a used car. It is the fact that cars depreciate faster in the first two or three years of their life and the new car buyer has to bear that for the pleasure of being the first owner. By buying used it is possible to avoid the heaviest depreciation.
Cars will still depreciate in the years that follow, but at a slower rate. New car buyers can choose the engine, transmission, the colour of the paint and the interior trim, and accessories, but used car buyers have to take what's available as there is lack of choice and you won’t get your dream car easily. Reassuring backup of a new car is there with New car buyers as a warranty.
Anyone buying from a used car dealer will also have a warranty, but it won't be for the same duration as a new car warranty. Private buyers don't have a warranty at all.
Also instead of buying a New Hyundai i20 or i20 active you can go for secondhand Hyundai Creta which is much bigger and comfortable than a hatchback. We cannot ignore the fact that there is always a risk in buying a secondhand Car. Advantages and Disadvantages are there is both Petrol and Diesel Car. However, the difference between them is very less so it doesn’t matter.

  • Diesel engines are comparatively more slow and noisy but the latest diesel engines are as pure as petrol ones. Now diesel engines are fitted in a number of high-performance models also. Diesel engines emit less carbon dioxide, so they are better in terms of pollution.

  • On the other hand, Petrol engines are proved to be more cleaner and economical, too. The technology now features Direct-injection in a number of models. Performance-minded drivers still tend to opt for petrol cars, though many diesels can accelerate faster than petrol equivalents at speeds from 50-80kph which is a more beneficial in everyday driving than a quick 0-60 standing-start time. The prices of new diesel cars are usually slightly higher than for similarly-specified petrol models, but they have better resale value
Hyundai Car Dealer in Thane Mumbai
The fact is diesel is only three quarters the price of petrol and is therefore easy on the pocket. Diesels also travel further on a litre of fuel compared to their petrol counterparts. However, bear in mind that a diesel car makes financial sense only if your annual mileage is more than 13,000-15,000km. If your annual mileage will be less than that, opt blindly for a petrol. If your usage is less than 12,000km annually never think diesel.

How to improve the life of car tyres?

Shreenath Hyundai

All car tyres are rated for certain kilometre range. However, they can wear prematurely too depending on lot of variable factors and you may need to change them before time, therefore causing extra expenditure. To ensure that you get the best out of your tyres, there are things that you can do to extend their life.

Tyre pressure

The correct tyre pressure, as suggested by the manufacturer can be found in the user manual of the car or around the driver’s door frame. The correct tyre pressure not only ensures proper grip and handling, it provides better fuel efficiency and prevents excessive tyre wear. Over inflated tyre reduces contact patch and under inflated tyre through increased flexing cause excessive tyre wear. Tyre pressure should be checked every week and maintained as recommended by the manufacturer.

Speed

As the speed of car increases, the temperature of the air inside the tyre and the tyres themselves also increases due to friction, this increases the wear. Filling tyres with normal pressurised air causes more pressure variation over time, due to the presence of moisture. Filling tyres with an inert gas like Nitrogen might help and would help pressure variation with speed and also reduce the chances of corrosion.
how speed is helpful for improving car typre life

Load

The contact patch area increases in direct proportion to the load and excessive load on tyres increases wear. But the contact patch area also varies inversely with inflation pressure. However, you should avoid overloading the car, but since you can not accurately measure the load of passengers that you are carrying, it is okay to overinflate the tyre by just 1-2 PSI (but not more) if you think the load exceeds the rated gross weight of the car.

Alignment & Wheel rotation

Front tyres will wear more in comparison to the rear tyres due to the presence of steering forces. Most manufacturers advise that the alignment (including camber, cater and toe adjustment) of the wheels should be done every 10,000 kilometres. Along with the alignment, you should get the wheel rotation done to avoid uneven wear of the tyres.

Wheel balancing

If the tyres are not balanced, it would show up at the steering wheel in the form of shimmy. Not only tyres unbalanced wheels can cause great damage to suspension and steering components. Although shimmy can also be due to uneven wear of the tyre and other conditions. Get the wheels balanced every time you get a new tyre or when you get the alignment done, this would maximize the tyre life.

Driving style

Driving style can affect the life of tyres to a great extent. Hard acceleration that causes wheel-spin as well as aggressive braking and cornering can cause tyres to wear out quickly. What goes without saying is that you should absolutely refrain from drifting which would wear the tyre prematurely.

Defensive Driving Tips

Shreenath Hyundai car dealer thane and Mumbai

The truth is you have the power to avoid virtually every accident. Identify red-light runners, sudden stoppers, random turners and comers-out-of-nowhere in time to take effective precautionary measures. If you’re in tune with the road, it's easy to spot deteriorating conditions. You can prevent tires from failing and your car from going out of control. Learn how you can become a better defensive driver with these three defensive driving tips.

See and be seen

Turn on your headlights – not just the parking lights – whenever visibility is low, which includes:
  • From at least 30 minutes before sunset until half an hour after sunrise
  • When it's raining (even if it's just drizzling)
  • When it's foggy
This is so you will BE SEEN during the most dangerous driving times. Switch on your headlights whenever you're on a two-lane highway, even in bright daylight. Use your headlights when others have theirs on: The other guys are trying to tell you that they're having trouble seeing you! (You aren't saving electricity, gasoline or your headlights by not using them.)
Keep your windshield and side windows clean, inside and out. Use an anti-fog compound on the inside and a water-repellant on the outside. If the interior fogs up, turn on your air conditioner and turn the selector to outside air, not recirculation.
Rubber wears out, so replace windshield wipers every nine months or so, and keep your windshield washer fluid full.

Set your mirrors to avoid car blind spots. If you see the side of your car in the exterior mirrors, they are set INCORRECTLY and are largely useless. For the correct setting, imagine your mirrors as three photographs pasted together to make a panorama of the road behind you: The images on the outside edges of the interior mirror should overlap those on the inside edges of the exterior mirrors.

Tires are the single most important safety component on a car. Buy high-quality tires and maintain them. They're expensive, but think about it this way: If you're going skydiving, would you buy a bargain parachute? Check your tire pressures monthly and make sure they are at least what the vehicle manufacturer recommends: Three or even five pounds per square inch (psi) high is better than one psi low. There's little penalty for placing air pressure a bit high, but low pressure is the leading cause for tire failure.

Imagine repeatedly bending a wire coat hanger: That's what's happening to the interior structure of a tire with inadequate pressure. The damage will not be visible, but may be fatal. If your tires have been run under 20 psi for any distance, or slammed into a curb or a big pothole, have a tire dealer demount and inspect them. Don't squeeze the last few thousand miles out of your tires. A tire's ability to perform is severely compromised by the time it reaches 4/32-inch tread depth. Replace tires at least every six years, regardless of tread depth remaining.

Know your car and yourself

Sadly, the first time most drivers explore their car's capability is in an emergency. Know your car’s and your own ability. Start by learning the edges of your car, so that you will instinctively know if you can drive around or through a bad situation. One way to do this: Intentionally run over the "Botts’ Dots" raised lane markers. Also, you can create marker poles with PVC pipe and "T" connectors. Place them a foot wider than your car and practice driving through them.

Next, explore braking ability. If you have ABS, find a vacant parking lot. Pound the brake pedal and hold it down. You'll be shocked at how quickly your car stops. One of ABS' greatest benefits is that it allows you to steer during maximum effort braking, so practice turning while braking. Without ABS, squeeze the pedal aggressively but avoid locking the wheels, as that will damage the tires and, if the rears lock first, the car may spin out.

To learn your car's handling ability, you could enter an autocross hosted by your local car club: Any well-maintained street car is eligible and no special safety equipment is required (though tire wear will be accelerated). Some clubs host inexpensive autocross driving schools for novices. Or, a cheap and entertaining way to learn how to "turn in the direction of the skid" is to spend some time on your local fun park's kart slick track.

Give yourself the best chance

Modern technology is amazing. Take full advantage of it. If you’re in the market for a used car, make sure it's a '97 or newer model to get upgraded side-impact airbag standards. Buy a car with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control. These computer-based driving aids will perform amazing feats to help you avoid car accidents. It's like having your favorite race car driver take the wheel during emergency situations.

Valuable Tips to Maintain Your Diesel Car

Shreenath Hyundai

Thanks to the fuel-pricing strategies in the country, diesel has become the fuel of choice when it comes to purchasing a car. Until some years ago, the cheaper priced fuel was the only reason why one chose a diesel car over its petrol counterpart. However, thanks to the technological advancements made by car manufacturers, the reasons today, go beyond fuel prices alone.

Thanks to their inherent nature, diesel cars offer better performance, increased reliability and greater fuel efficiency than their petrol variants. It is therefore no surprise to see them do exceedingly well in the Indian market. However, the question of diesel engine maintenance still remains a critical area of concern.

Today’s diesel engines are technologically advanced, high-tech assemblies that are engineered to tight-tolerances. Owners should therefore be well-versed on how to maintain a diesel car in Mumbai.

Most diesel cars on sale today happen to be turbocharged units. Due to the extremely high speeds at which the turbine inside spins during operation, they also tend to generate a lot of heat. To ensure longevity of the turbocharger, experienced people in the art of diesel engine maintenance advice the following of proper idling practices upon start-up and before powering down.

Among other car care tips, one must always ensure that there’s sufficient fuel in the tank at all times. Present day engines run on high pressure fuel systems and allowing the tank to run beyond prescribed levels increases the chances of an air-lock.

While every car must be maintained at regular intervals, timely oil changes and other periodic maintenance routines are a non-negotiable part of diesel car maintenance if one wishes to enjoy a trouble-free ownership experience. Always change the oil as per manufacturer prescribed timeframes or before that even, depending on the driving conditions.

The fuel injectors in today’s high-pressure diesel engines are highly susceptible to the quality of fuel passing through them. Apart from tanking up at trusted fuel bunks, one must also pay heed to the manufacturer prescribed tips on diesel engine maintenance for their respective car. While injector cleaning fluids are not usually needed, they could become a necessity if the conditions are particularly adverse.

That then was a brief roundup on valuable tips to maintain a diesel car in India. Do let us know if you follow them too. You could also add in with a few from your side. Simply hit up the comments below and let us know.
